Exploring the City
Giving Back to the City
Retreats Fellows attend retreats throughout the year. This includes an opening retreat, a Micah 6:8 Retreat in the fall (when all the Fellows programs meet to study the topic of biblical justice), a biblical calling retreat, silent and prayer retreat, women's and men's retreats, and the Annual Fellows Initiative National Conference in Washington DC. The year also ends with the closing retreat.
A Volunteer Ministry During the Fellows year gratitude for what the Lord has provided is a recurring discussion and theme. We want our Fellows to cultivate a desire to serve others as a result of how they are loved and served. Fellows are given opportunities to serve within Second Presbyterian Church and in other ministries in Memphis weekly. Every Sunday evening the Fellows greet at our evening service. In addition, each Fellow finds one ministry to serve weekly. See a list of ministry opportunities!
Giving Back to the City We want Fellows to come to Memphis knowing that we are broken people in a broken city. We desire for our Fellows to grow to love this brokenness and through their actions and service help redeem some of the city's past pain and hurt. Memphis has been recognized as the second most generous city in the country. We want our Fellows to realize that by giving of their time they can learn to love their neighbors and appreciate that differences create richness. Generosity does not have to be solely financial but can be service and time as well.
